BIOGRAPHY

From the northwest suburbs of Minneapolis, Mark Banker's journey began, surrounded by a family steeped in musical tradition. Influenced by his grandfather, Carl Jackson, a skilled violinist and baritone, and his parents' love for the Everly Brothers, Mark developed a deep appreciation for vocal harmonies. Experiencing live performances by icons like Elvis Presley, Carlos Santana, and Gordon Lightfoot, he cultivated a passion for diverse musical styles.

Mark's formal musical education saw him playing the tuba in school bands and singing in choirs, showcasing his varied talents. He honed his guitar skills at Viking Music and began teaching guitar at 16, laying the groundwork for a versatile musical career.

His professional debut was as unique as his upbringing, performing in a puppet show where music and interactive theater merged. He also formed a duet, entertaining at retirement homes and parties, showcasing his adaptability. His solo career kickstarted with performances at Victoria Station.

Mark's musical horizons broadened as he toured with country and 50s & 60s bands across the upper Midwest, including opening for Martina McBride with Emily Richards. A highlight was his tenure as the minstrel at the Wagonmaster restaurant in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he shared the stage with Tanya Tucker, blending old west ambiance with his musical flair.

His commitment to children's entertainment paralleled his pursuit of an elementary education degree. For four years, he engaged young minds through musical storytelling, reflecting his dedication to education and music's role in development.

Mark's music also took him across the globe – from the cobblestones of England and Ireland to the shores of St. Martin, and to the vibrant cultures of Canada, Thailand, and Vietnam. These travels infused his music with global influences and connected him to an international audience.

Today, Mark Banker is a mosaic of his experiences – a musician with roots in family tradition, a storyteller who has traversed the world, and an educator who believes in the power of music to inspire. His journey is more than a series of performances; it is a testament to the unifying power of music and its ability to touch lives across generations and borders.
